Default 67 gto pulleys

ok while i had the engine in my gto rebuilt,i converted the timing chain cover over to a late model desgin.the pulleys they sent me with the kit didnt work.since i converted the car to non power steering,no a/c.so when i installed the pulleys oringal the water pump pulley hit crank pulley,so i ordered the single grove pulleys for a 69 model car.the top one seems to line up but the crank pulley dosnt fit the crank.its to wide.so the pulley i had from the car oringal that was on the car i put it on the crank and the top and bootom lined up but the belt angled to the rear a lil it wasnt centeredlike it should be,im trying to fig out if i should just order the pulley for a standard 67 with out p.s or a/c.im at my whits end with this.anybody got any advice

Keep everything the same year if at all possible. I had a 73 400 in the wifes 67 Tempest convertible and played the pulley game. Finally tore the whole front off and put all 67 pieces on, everything lined up, end of problem.

Default might help

can't hurt to read. I think I originally found the text part of this at The Heart of Illinois GTO club, tech articles. This one has some diagrams too. Hope it helps.

6704, read your OP & you lost me with what you purchased pulley wise.

From what I gathered, you installed the '69 & layer timing cover & I assume the tall 11 bolt waterpump. That's a very common upgrade. If that's the case & you're set on staying manual strg, you'll need a "847" crank pulley & a late '69 A,B,G series -'70 model (exc Firebird) 8" single groove wp pulley. If you need measurements of the stock stagger of these pulleys, I can further elaborate & you can compare to what you have.

i got pulley 9799127xf with the kit.that is the pulley that hit when i installed the it on the water pump and crank.i then ordered pulley number 979047 which is the crank pulley for 69 -70 single grove ,9799129xb 69-70 water pump single grove .but the lower pulley is to wide to fit the crank,

I would bet you had some form of larger diam a/c application crank pulley on the damper when the "127" bumped in to it. Something like an "842" or a 481038. with the "127", you need an "846"
