Default Will a 1975 Monte Carlo 10 bolt fit a 72 GTO

I have been looking for a 10 bolt 8.5 rear end as I'm not sure how long my 8.2 BOP axle will last and I dont think it makes sense to put money into it. My friend has a 1975 Monte Carlo rear end, will it fit my 1972 GTO?

No, the '73-77 A body r/e housing has a wider spread between the two upper control arm mounts. The overall width of the '73-77 A -body rear also near an inch wider than your LATE PONTIAC 8.2 10 bolt.

Know these rears very well, have built up near 2 dozen '73-77 A-body rears & over 350 71-72 8.5 A-body rears.

Thanks Ol pinion, this 12 bolt rear end is currently on Kijij but the cover looks different than the usual 12 bolt cover, any idea what it is?

Default Oldsmobile 'O' type rearend

12-bolts in the cover but 10-bolt guts.

Decent rear-ends but no stronger than a normal 10-bolt.

8.75 (?) out of a ‘65-‘7O B-body. Parts are getting very difficult to find for them. Nothing wrong with a correctly built 8.5; they are a strong diff.

And remember the Yoke from a 65-70 Big Car fits the Chevy 12-Bolt, so you can enjoy the Pontiac size U-Joint.

65-70 yoke is 28 spline. 71-76 is the 30 spline.http://forum.jdrace.com/viewtopic.php?t=526
