Default Round Port Headers

Anybody have a suggestion as to what Pontiac these headers might fit? I bought these headers years ago from a well-known, Pontiac engine builder, racer, and parts suppler. They are supposed to fit a 64-67 GTO with Edlebrock round port heads. They don’t fit. When I talked to spoke with the guy to order the headers he told to cut the flanges to facilitate an easier installation, so based on his directions I cut the flanges.

When I installed the headers the left side fit, but the right side would not even come close to fitting. So, I called the business about the custom made headers not fitting and he refused to take them back because the flanges had been cut. So, they have been taking up space in my garage for the past 16 years.

Sorry, can’t get the photos to upload.

I’ll see if I can find some numbers. They definitely don’t fit a 65 A body frame. The right side, number 2 cylinder pipe, hits the lower A arm rear mount. The left side fits ok. It’s a shame because they are strong, well made headers. I thought maybe someone might identity them as fitting another year series of A body or Bird.

I test fitted the headers on a friend’s 69 GTO. Turns out that these are the same as Hooker Super Comps for a 1968-75 GTO/LeMans.

You can always use them and just change the problem tubes if you have a buddy that welds. The inner cardboard paper towel rolls are good for mock up.

Hi Skip. I weld and fabricate, but I had a stroke right after I bought the headers in 2007, so I sold both of my GTOs and my 63 LeMans. I only kept my 65 Catalina, so I never Had a need for them. Maybe someone can use them some day and I can sell them.

Years ago I had a set of JR headers that looked a lot like those on a 69 gto.

Yes they do look like the old JR Headers, and the current Hooker D port headers for 68 and up GTOs.
