I just got a PM from "Darlene" telling me "Allen" is selling a 67 GTO. I responded to her saying I'm only looking for a trunk lid for 67 not an entire car. I asked her if she believes Allen is selling parts. We'll see if she responds....

It's best not to respond to them; if they're new members, and are suggesting you email someone off the board, it's a scam.

If these emails are from members, please report them - it's the fastest way for the moderators to deal with them.

This scam seems to be a problem on many of the forums to which I belong. Soon after one posts a WBT thread, the fraudulent PMs start showing up. Have noticed on some of the larger forums that scammers are now investing time building up their post counts, so at first glance, everything looks legitimate. A closer look reveals a lot of very short nonsensical posts, so still easy to detect, but really annoying. It's so bad on some forums, like Mustang6g, that I no longer even attempt to buy anything.

They are making it more difficult to find and delete them. We're checking the board multiple times every day but we still sometimes don't see them, so it's good to stay on your toes and report anything that seems suspicious.

I have no name but we got 2 phone calls today that some scammer was charging our credit card $299/year for Covid19 prescription medication. Neither of us have had Covid19, nor been to a doctor for it. They say press to 1 to cancel, but it just repeats the msg every time you press 1. Keep a copy of the number. If you are charged, call a lawyer and sue them.

So beware you have been warned. This scam isn't funny at all.

Consider contacting your phone service provider.

There used to be rumors of robocall scams in which pressing 1 authorized
them to use your long distance plan? Dunno. Better safe than sorry?

I will, tho Vonage had Spam in the phone's window where the number showed up. Tho it doesn't mean they'll do anything about it via a phone call to them.

I forgot to say in my previous post that the number was different from the first call. Tho it was from the same 515 area code.
