Factory undercoating
Did all 65 GTOs come with undercoating in the quarter panel wheelhouses standard even if the full underbody undercoating was chosen? What about the backside of the fenders that you can see from the motor compartment?

All the 65's I've owned (a dozen or so) had the undercoating on the outer sides of the trunk pan behind the rear wheelhouses. The rear wheelhouses themselves were undercoated regardless of where dealer undercoating was applied. Also there was undercoating in the transmission tunnel. I've never seen any undercoating in or around the front wheelhouses. Also never seen any on the backside of the front fenders.

Jerry, when you say "outer sides of the trunk pan" do you also mean the lower rear section of the quarter panel?

FWIW...
What the factory applied was technically referred to as sound deadener. Depending on year & plant, some processes varied. Qtr. Wheel House inner. Qtr. Inner below qtr. glass. Door inner (inside of outer) Trunk drop off Bottom of trunk extension Fender Skirt (inner) Since all were manually sprayed, coverage varied.
