Default #77 Heads WIW

As part of a package deal I got a pair of #77 heads (currently on a 67 YT 400). They have not been run in 20+ years.

What is the going rate for a core pair?

Ought to be worth 250-300 at least. Would you sell them for that?

I got the heads off and got a surprise. They were all coated in heavy grease for storage. There was no rust anywhere.

The date codes are Dec 2 1964 and Nov 24 64 so I assume they lest the factory as a pair.

I am going to get them cleaned up and I'll post some pics.

Got the cosmoline off and they cleaned up really nice. I have a little light surface rust as a result of the cleaning.

The only bummer is the broken bolt (I did it) in the center port of the left side.

Below are left side picks.

Just a thought........They may look good on the outside, but to get a real idea of worth,a buyer needs to know what the seats, guides and rockers condition are.I coat parts when put up even if they need work to prevent rust........FWIW..JB.

I have been on the fence as to take them apart or not.

I am going to wipe them down with a little light oil. The day I cleaned them was so humid I think the the rust formed within minutes.

I'd leave them together. IMO. untouched heads are more attractive than disassembled ones.
