Honestly, it is a bit wierd from years past. Even the official site pontiacnationals.com hasn't updated with next years dates or, pictures of this year's event.
I hope everything is ok.

Joe

I always thought it was closer to the last weekend in July? So, 29th, 30th, and 31st.

That seemed like the pattern for years now, so I picked July 30th as a leave slot back when we were bidding schedules and leave a few weeks ago. Nothing a little sick leave can't fix though! haha

If it at all helps I just received today both an email and a letter from Summit to reserve the trailer spot I had this year. The confirmation email I received, after paying for the spot, listed Friday August 5th as the first day.

Newbie to Norwalk here, after having my car apart for the last year its finally back together and I want to attend Norwalk in August. Besides registering the car and getting a hotel what else do I need to know? I will have the wife along if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

We spoke to Pete Woodruff at PRI. All is well. They were a bit late updating the website due to their NHRA travel schedule AND they're building a new house.

2016 is the 25th anniversary of the event and they are going to try to do things bigger and better than normal, if that's possible. Mark your calendars...it will be a must-attend.

Where when do the registrations come out? Also what is a good hotel to stay at? Are there any sights to see if I came early? Thanks!

We never get a chance to sightsee but here's a few things I know of:

Cedar Point amusement park is the big attraction (and the reason that motel prices are jacked up)

I don't remember the name but there's an indoor water park/motel on 250, north of the turnpike.

Milan is the birthplace of Thomas Edison. Not sure if there's any history-buff attractions...but maybe.

I think Sea World isn't too far away??

The few motels in Norwalk usually book up early. Better chance of finding something in Milan or north of the turnpike and it's still a pretty easy drive to the track.

www.pontiacnationals.com for event info.

Good luck, see you there!
Eric

Are you racing or showing? I race and there is no need to register early. I would also recommend camping at the track over staying in a hotel. They have nice facilities as far as showering/bathrooms. My wife has went with me for the past 10 years. The one time we didn't take the car and camp at the track was the only year she complained. She loves camping there. We just stay in our enclosed trailer.

I am not really a camping guy either but it is not really the "roughing it" type camping so I love it for that one weekend, plus I like to stay close to my car. I do not know the exact distance but I do know that Milan is pretty close. Linder's Lot is a field that is adjacent to the track. On Thursday morning those that can make it that early will wait there in line to buy credentials to get in. Even if you preorder you still need to go through there. You can then enter the track Thursday evening to get set up. They use to make us stay all night there Thursday night, but now we get to go on into the track. Most of the day in Linder's Lot is everyone sitting around and catching up with each other and walking around checking out the other cars. Lots of fun.

Milan is about a 10-15 minute drive to the track and the trip takes you past restaurants (Bob Evans breakfast....mmmm), gas stations, car wash, Walmart and NAPA auto parts. It's an excellent place to stay.

T&T Friday and racing Sat. & Sunday.
You can leave car at either location. Providing you get in track before it's closed Thursday @ 8.
Track is secured and you can get someone to watch in Linder's Lot I'm sure..
I've never had any problems....

Only thing that I know happened was a rental golf kart was stolen 2 years ago..in track.

It is much more fun staying at track..

That's great thanks for all the responses. Going to try to get to Ohio early as possible. Try to make a lil weeks vacation out of it.
