Restoration
Not sure where this goes exactly, so I thought I'd try it here. I've seen several carbs. that have been restored; beautifully done. Many have been tripower carbs. Question is, how do they get the exterior of the carb. to look that good?? It's almost like a brass or bronze finish. Is it some type of acid dip they put them into, or they paint them with something special?? Maybe Eastwood makes something purposely for this. I do know they look great, Carmine.

I know Eastwood makes a carb paint but I would assume the major restoration guys use a plating or etching of some sort.

The correct way is plating the carb bodies after completely disassembling them, fine bead blasting the bodies is the way my carb builder does the cleaning. Then all of the other related parts are plated as well, it’s sort of involved and not an easy task.
I had this set restored by PY member Dick Boneske for a 1959 389, he did another set for my ‘64 421 HO as well. The carbs, linkage and 1959 fuel lines are shown here mocked up on a 1960 intake just before Dick shipped the carbs and related parts to me.

Beautiful job. They look better then new. Thanks. I guess this plating isn't something we can do ourselves, Carmine.

Nice, plating and prefer over paint myself. Its those linkage parts and getting the green look correct. Ugh
