Something I noticed. The handling package would have indicated F60-15 tires. Your invoice is not showing the P85 GR70-15 upgrade. Any insight?

Strange, read the window sticker. I wonder if the package changed during the model year.

The dealer prepared order sheet shows that he specifically ordered the GR70x15 radials and its on the window sticker, too. Maybe there was a different handling package that included 15" 70 series radials instead of 60 series bias ply tires?

Actually it looks like the answer is over here: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=736843

Looks like the GR70s were an upgrade as part of the handling package in late 1973.

It states right on your window sticker that part of the handling package is GR/70-15 white letter radial tires. Am I missing something in HFRs question?

The '73 order form (9-27-72) states the Y-99 Handling Package comes with F60x15 tires (I posted it in linked thread). But, there is no upgrade to the P85 on his invoicing. I had gone searching after posting and noticed the window sticker description and edited (when you edit within a certain timeframe, it doesn't show you've edited it).

I'm more use to '74s Bob and had no documents for the changes in '73.

Got it. Radials were a late add to the 73 line up. The original ones were whitewall only. Later they released the white letter version. The order forms were probably printed well ahead of the actual start of production.

Well, the radials weren't really a late add. The P85 option states GR70x15 white on the same 9-27-72 order form. Just never knew they started with a whitewall, then changed to white letter.

Here is today's conundrum. Looks like there were two different styles of the infamous Firestone 500 Radial.

My original spare and two of the unmounted tires are dated 18th week of 1973, confirming their original equipment status.

The NOS spare tire and honeycomb rim are dated 40th week of 1973, possibly a spare for the 1974 model year.

Note that the early 73 tire has a white "F" logo and the later 73 tire has an embossed black "F" logo.

Anyone out there have an early "F" Firestone 500 or two they want to sell? These came on Corvettes, too so if anyone knows any Vette guys out there, please forward my request.

Nice detective work. Were the other Honeycombs dated correctly?

Maybe a shot of the black and white cars together, and a screen name change to "ZebraSteve"?

Steve, we had NOS ones on the parts shelf for years. Last I saw in '82 there was still 20 or so from 6 cases that were bought in the early 70's It IS an original..probably not original to the car, but its vintage! Nice find! Chis has some repainted and PY sells the new 24's
PS you give your swifer duster away with your 72?? hehe you LUCKED out with white!!

The original owner ID'd it as the one he installed in the late 1970's.

You bet the white is easier to keep clean! Before Bob's guys picked it up I washed the black car and then went to wash the white car. When I was done washing the white car, the black car was all dusty again.

Steve got me thinking about my 72 T/A that is supposed to have the original spare tire & wheel. The story goes that the original lady owner didn't like the size of the spare since it didn't allow any trunk space. She removed the tire and placed it in her carport exposed to the Florida weather. The second owner kept the tire & wheel in his garage for 28 years prior to me buying the car. The DOT, sometime in 1970, established a different numbering system called "TIC". This system was utilized through sometime in '72. The first two digits being the date code. In this instance CD indicates the 12th week of 1971. This would coincides well with my 09C build date

Not exciting at all - maybe an action shot?

How about a panorama. Isn't there some kind of app that can combine several shots into a single panorama? I could sure use that for this...

I took the white car over to my buddy's garage today to get some underside shots. I took around 140 photos of just about everything. Lots of neat stuff under there that I have never seen before on a second gen car. The camera didn't have a wide enough angle lens so I had to shoot the car down the center, then down the sides to get all the details. So here goes:
