Thumbs up Correct horns for 66 GTO

My horns are stamped 9000 with the last 3 digits being 837 or maybe 237,: Hard to tell since pot metal in this area is degraded. This is the high note with an H stamped on it.
The other horn has nothing to denote if it’s high or low note and has 9000498 stamped on it
Are these the correct horns for my 66 GTO?

Default Correct horns for 66 GTO

Hmm, I’m confused. I ran across my 71 Parts and Accessory Catalog dated 3-1-71 and looked up Horn Assembly in section 2.810. that covers 1946-1954 to 1971. It showed:
66-69 T/6, T/8, P/8. 9000239 high note

66-69 T/6, T/8. 9000236 low note

I did not see 9000497 or 9000498 listed anywhere in this section. Maybe I’m missing something somewhere.

From 1966 Tempest Shop Manual:

High Note 9000537
Low Note 9000498

From 1967 Chassis Parts Catalog:

1966-67 T/6-T/8 high note 9000513 RH
1966-67 T/6-T/8 low note 9000500 LH

From 1970 Master Parts Catalog:

1966-69 T/6-T/8-P/8 high note 9000239 RH
1966-67 T/6-T/8 low note 9000236 LH

I guess you have the original 1966 horns.

Default Correct horns for 66 GTO

Holy cow! Never occurred to me the same part could carry so many different numbers in different publications. Think I’m confident enough now that mine are correct to restore them. Thanks for the help.

Default Dated horns

Like so many components on these cars the horns are also dated.

Here are the horns on my ‘66 Survivor (5M5) that was mostly assembled in Dec. 1965.

Sorry to mislead you with my post.

This GTO is mostly Dec. 65 and into Jan. 66 “components” for this 01B 1966 GTO.

This car build is extremely tight.

The horns are 5M5.
5 = year, 1965
M = month, December
5 = week, 5th week of Dec.

Thanks, Chris
