$123,000 someone loves it, it is a sweet car I wouldn’t want it it’s a show queen but if that’s what you like that’s a great car for it.

1. As stated, Ugly, and not practical dash. TO do pods right, look at a Datsun 240Z .
2. As stated, the " Dronemaster" exhaust.. This proves That NO MONEY can buy common sense. Even with a strip Of rubber, its still WRONG. Bet the new owner gets sick of RED, and Fast. This is one of those cars that is better to look at, than look out of. Bet is way loud, noisey, and Not very smooth ride.

I knew it wasn’t for everyone but this is a tough crowd! I agree the exhaust makes no sense but the craftsmanship on the car is hard to deny.
For example it wasn’t a Camaro spoiler- it was molded into the car. Just do many custom touches. I personally wouldn’t build it either (my red 72 looks just one a 73 TA) but I do think the workmanship is done if the best I’ve seen. Especially if the car was done 10 years ago- it looked like it was completed yesterday. |

A hot rod buddy is wanting my Bird. He has a 71 Formula 400, 4 speed. He doesn't want to modify it. His dream is a Bf Goodrich Tirebird style road racer, maybe even a tad more radical than that with more modern stuff under. If I ever let my car go, I would probably sell it to him to see that build, and he would do top notch.

I just look at restomods as one person's dream car put together, not mine. Not knocking it but to me today's fresh restomod is tomorrow's old and outdated restomod, (remember pro street) On the other hand original cars never go out of style or fall out of favor.

Muffler mount is an easy fix, drive the car first see if it is an issue. Then fix in half an hour if it is. If you like the rest of the car that is hardly a reason to hate it. I don’t like the hood but I guess that would not be that hard to change either. The price it sold for is what would stop me.

I agree Nik- this is why I’ve never done a LS swap. I think it will date the car. I like stock or period correct for my own cars. Except wheels- I can go a little further from stock with wheels because you can see a big difference and it’s easy to change back.

The car was miss marketed at Auction in order to Garner
More interest. It is NOT a "pro" Touring car, nor a "Grand" touring car, nor a " Luxury " Touring car. Its a purpose built autocross RACE CAR. THAT SAID; The exhaust and solid motor mounts are fine. Spiffing it up to sell as a "Driver" may have cost more than recouped at sale. This is NOT a Street car and Not something you could drive to a car show 50 miles away " in Any kind of comfort "without a bunch of mods. Usefulness is " Limited" . It is cool in its own respect as a race car, even with RED UNDERCOATING... !! Ps, wouldn't take a inspection sticker in most states for a few reasons. ( I know all about Florida inspections )

I've been in a few cars with the same basic ingredients (engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, modern seats, etc.) and when they're sorted out, they're an absolute blast to drive, and many are driven 10s of thousands of miles a year. That said, cars with interior and exterior modifications like this one are typically show cars, glam-touring rather than pro-touring, and unfortunately the mods (especially interior and exterior details) often look dated quickly. I bet the selling price plus the cost of fixing these things would be far less than what it would cost to build something similar if you had to farm out fab/metal work, body and paint.
