Default 69 Grand Prix Rear Bumper Bracket Question

Did all 69 GP's have just 3 brackets for the rear bumper?
There is provision for a fourth bracket on left side of center. Was this ever used?
I have 3 69 GP's with just the 3 brackets (first pic) but I bought a beautiful bumper from a PY member and it has all four brackets (second pic)

Is the fourth bracket a 70 feature? or perhaps a provision for a bumper mounted trailer hitch?

Thanks,
Steve

I've only ever seen three, only one center bracket is used. Looks like one is mounted upside-down which would make it two of the same brackets, not a right & left.

Thanks for the feedback Grant. The two center brackets are quite different actually. I thought the same thing as you but they are quite different and not interchangeable.
Hoping someone else has seen this before and can shed some light!
Thanks,
Steve

No kidding, Steve... this a new one on me. Even the parts catalog only shows one center bracket. May be part of a trailering package for extra reinforcement like you said. Are there two extra holes drilled in the bumper under the license pocket area? Also, does it have the '69 fixed socket bulbs or the '70 twist-in type?

The brackets are away at the media blaster. Will check for p/n's when I get them back.
The bumper was in perfect conditon, no tell tale holes from a hitch. Have it back from chrome shop.
Will have to check on the bulbs, but the lens' were 69's

I'd sure like to see some photos of those side by side when you get them back.
After looking at your photo closer, it appears to have the '69 style harnesses that push on to the sockets.
Would be curious about the VIN from the car it came from if you could find out. Possibly a very early production build?
Very interesting!
