Default 177 Supercharger on a 400 Pontiac

On a mild built street/strip 400 Pontiac, would a 177 be big enough or would it need atleast a 6-71?

With a 30 over 455 I’ve went 9.40’s with a 177 on only 3-4 lbs of boost in a 2,800 lb car. Aluminum heads with a roller cam. Could only get 3-4 lbs of boost out of the 177. On steel heads and a smallish hydraulic cam aNd the same 455 I could get 6-9 lbs of boost. I also went 9 teens with a 250 blower.

George, what intake did you use to attach that 177 blower to?

The first 177 I bought was a universal set up, it actually bolted to the single four barrel intake. The 250 I had I used a BDS blower intake, the 177 on my wife’s TA I also used a BDS blower intake so I could squeeze it under its hood. I’ll try to get pics later.

No, it would be nice. The downside was it put the blower up a bit high, using a bds intake I squeezed it under my wife’s TA hood.......thanks to the Dude Scoop!

Did you have to make your own adapter?
