These are the st. st. versions that are pretty close to exactly the right size and shape.

I was unaware they stopped making them. Probably not a big enough call which is foolish because they worked well.

Yeah I recognize them- and enjoy the heck out of them!
How many did you make and how many did Waldron make?

Chief- When you say "... they stopped making them..." to whom are you referring? Do you even realize that these are the elegant results of Tom's efforts?

Nope. Had no idea who made them. I just knew they had been reproduced and that they were a good option on the GTO as well as worked very well. GM should have put them on every GTO as standard equipment. Now a days its called "active exhaust" and can be found on the Mustang and Camaro. Pontiac certainly was ahead of the times.

Well done OP.

Counting these next few Jack, I think I am up to 26 maybe? These should be the last ones.
I am working with another company to get parts so I need to test these first two before building the last six.

I am not sure how many Waldron's sold. They MAY someday have more but that is my wish and their hope.

These are all 304 st. st (except actuators) so they are very high dollar. Labor is about half of the cost of the many hundreds of dollars per muffler. The actuators cost more than most mufflers do today. .

They will sound good but will not flow like the new active ones do (that can easily bypass restrictive parts of the muffler).
Tom

Hi Lee, the ones we tested were rather loud and did not flow much air, compared to straight through ones. The bigger they are the better they''ll work but these pups were loud, in my opinion, and to the dB meter.
Tom

Thanks Tom, as always!

I'll be in the market for some mufflers in the not too distant future, and those sounded interesting on a video - but could not tell how loud they actually are.

Ran them on Dad's wagon today. They had around 10 dBA difference at idle, 7 dBa at 2200 and almost 10 dBa at 3500. They really snarl on his car when you goose the throttle but when closed, the engine is just about the loudest thing you hear, with the hod open, and from the drivers side anyway. His big 455-based engine makes much more sound energy than my little 340 Plymouth for sure!
