Really, it's splitting hairs.

FWIW, engine, and motor are two different things, but I fully understand when someone says they "blew their motor".
As a long-term auto tech like Brad here, I agree.

Perfect timing - I'm going to buy my wife a new washer and dryer. She picked up my computer and saw this.

All I thought was "$5 to wash britches? Highway robbery!"

To be fair, those things are really unfortunately named to begin with. It would be really awkward for the guards at the gate to ask to see my CAC without adding "card" behind it.

People that continue to call expansion or soft plugs freeze plugs. I had two mentors that stressed that people are ignorant that can’t be corrected and steal oxygen.

In my experience, the companies that specialize in only the prop shaft and rear end, around here anyway, are called Central Driveline or Pat's Driveline. Drivetrain or Powertrain searches go to the usual auto shops. The thing is, the use of "train" in either word encompasses the inclusion of the components of a real train: A unit making power, coupled with another unit converting that power into usable, manipulable force, and the final drive where the surface vehicle meets its base condition on Earth.

Anyways, if you think people can get heated about things like this, then you can imagine the debate in England over the use of the word "trucks".

Political correctness in the automotive hobby field?...........

Naw, we don't need that too, PC does not make anything better from my observation point. There are far more urgent matters in the US than whether someone calls a internal combustion engine, a motor....and it just goes on, and on............

Why do we park on the driveway, but drive on the parkway?

The “urgent matters in the US” are only discussed in the clubhouse. The “fluff” stays in the lobby to amuse. . . . .

Powertrain and drivetrain or engine/motor don't drive me crazy nearly as much as "breaks", "counsel", "concourse restoration" or "rims".

Then there's the "I'm going to sale it" or "is it for sell?" guys.

Yes, I've got too much time on my hands, lol.

"Urgent matters" has a very wide scope. Could be whether the new bronco looks too similar to the old Scout II necessitating IH/Navistar to bring a lawsuit against ford to make it look less like the Scout II. It was worded that way intentionally, so that the post wasn't censored.

EXACTLY! just the fact the people even want to talk about or have an interest is good enough for me
