Default another GTO under the hood surprise

well I get a call from a younger gent on my ad parting a 69 lemans convert ,, he is needing a drivers fender n door for a 68 GTO his neighbor has ,, that he was offered to buy ,,,

I have a fender and my buddy Jon has a door I replied ,,, where are you located I ask ? he is between me and Jon ... cool ... we chat about life and the car ..
he says its rusty and its ugly ... hmmmmmmm says he will call back later ..
10 days ish go by ,,,, get a call older gent needs a fender and a door for a 68 GTO...

hmmmmmmmm ....... sounds familiar .... we chat ,,, he is the one with the car

he had a little falling out with the neighbor and was going to repair the car ..
or part it out .. yup what? he sends me pictures and its ugly no fender
bent door ... toasted paint and '85 tags on the california plates.....hmmm

send him pictures of the parts ,,,, a few days go by ,,,, he gives me a ring
wife says NO WAY get it out of here .. by the end of the month.....

bingo ..... I feel an invitation to see the car maybe coming ..... yup
he invites me over ,,,,

I get off the freeway at his exit and my power steering pump in the ole 86 Chevy 4x4 shorty is chatten to me .... damm are you kiddin 245000 miles
and your makin noise ? well 5 miles to his place,,,, it quiets down a bit,,,

get to his place end end end of the road and it smells hot,,, oil on my leaf spring
oh man ...

check the car out , says he cut the fender off with a sawzall to get the door open ,,, ok ?? ....
he says wanna hear it run ?,, uh ok yah really ? ..... pops air cleaner off puts a little gas from a rainier beer can and to life it roars .... \
unplug the jump wire shuts right off
wow ok ,,,, NO brakes he says .... really ? sittin since 85 and no brakes ? we laugh
got a good posi he says pointing to brodies in his gravel driveway
ok ,,, running 68 gto ,,,, head rest buckets .... ac .... 4 piston discs .... and I havent even seen the passenger side or the hood over against the wall.... I walk around the car a s he opens the trunk I open the passenger door just hoping to see
that extra lever ,,,, and oH yes there it is ,,, right by the seat belt as imagined
15 minutes earlier when I saw the headrests.... shut the door ... go to the trunk
he shows me the rust ,,, oh yah ... bad but almost too bad ... ok ....we joke at the ugliest ever trailer hitch and wonder why ..... wanna beer he asks ,,,, sure ,,,
I walk past the pass fender and look down at the motor ,,,,look at that exhaust manifold ?? really ?? I bend over rub the block code
and O MG born with engine tranny and rear end
we chat and strike the deal ... he takes my deposit and heads inside to the boss
she yells out the front door THANKYOU .... your welcome I yell back
leave his place ... stop at the corner gas station for a 6.00 quart of tranny fluid
and ,,, like magic... its barely down .... but whinnin.... stop 2 times on the way home to check ,,,, white knuckled ready for anything.... as my buddy just had his
dodge truck plastic power steering pump ulley explode at the boat ramp !!!
after a 225 mile drive camping ... so so lucky ,,,,,
it was a long week put a pump on my truck ,,, allwent well ,,,
he calls me thursday

says he wants his tires back can I bring a set ,,,, to make it roll ,,,,
sure ,,,, he calls me the next weekend and he can bring the car up for the balance I owe him .... SWEEEET can I meet him around hallf way he needs to drop a truck off,,,, and I give him a ride back home its on blocks with the 5 JA
rallys and no tires sittin next to the car,, pop my tires n wheels on ,,,,
OH by the way KS rally II rims do NOT fit over 4 piston calipers without 2 THICK washers ....... battery is dead on the winch ,,,, pull the battery out of the boat ...
winch the car on ....
and we load the car up ....
and head to my house .... coool .... got it here and pushed it beside the shop

so thats the latest

I'm not sure I'm getting it. Is it a ram air II? XP block?

nope
just an ole original 35 year sitter YZ HO car ....
not many old GTO beaters around here anymore with their original engines
still in em that still run ...
I was thinkin YS or some bonneville engine had been stuffed in it ...
