Fieros were neat cars. I bought one new in '85. Never had a problem with it. I think the styling was very good, the later gt's were beautiful in my opinion, and the 'fast back' design was really good. No need to change a good thing, I never got on board with all of the conversions.

We had 2 of them to sell at the Pontiac dealer I worked at. One was red, the other yellow. I only recall they were very expensive, roughly doubling the price of the Fiero it was based on. The yellow one hung around the dealer for over a year, finally being sold as the new models were coming in September. Based on our mid-sized dealer having 2 to sell, I have to believe a fair number were built? Maybe 1000 or so? Anyone know?

All sold through Pontiac dealers. None sold as DIY kits. The TV show Magnum PI, probably helped sell most of them.

I think I saw one of these at Charlotte Autofair a few years back. It had a Chevy V8 in it. The asking price was pretty high, I assumed it was a home made job.

I see there was one sold on BaT in the past. Although it had a V8 conversion. I would of thought it would have brought in a bit more money. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-pontiac-mera-2/

I sold a collection this Fall for the widow of a friend. There was six Fieros in the lot one being a GT with a sbc 350 conversion. I drove it for a test run, very impressive. The owner did the conversion, he was an engineer and did a great job, very neat looking.
