I recently purchased a 79 Trans Am with a 301 . Included in the deal was a 1975 pontiac 400 with 6X heads. the block is freshly bored 40 over and has TRW forged flat tops.My main objective with the car is to end up with approx. 300 to 350 hp. Am curious as to what the best approach to achieving this goal is.What a realistic streetable compression is? I am considering #15 87cc heads but dont know what the trade off for the smaller valves is. Dont know how much I cam achieve by milling my current heads, and am not sure of cam selection. I may eventually want to add a suprecharger somewhere down the line and dont know what the compression ratio cut off is for a supercharger is. At the current time i dont want to spend a ton of money to get the 400 running and in the car but also dont want to do the motor twice. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
