Yes, but the emmisions itself is not a problem.
The biggest problem was technology. Most of the emmisions (assuming we are talking 70's technology)end up restricting airflow. The EGR(1976/79) intake has restricted secondaries and restrictions inside the intake. The exhaust manifold has an EFE valve in it that adds backpressure to the exhuast and the catalytic also created flow problems. If you are talking about removing all of the visable hoses and stuff on top of the engine it will not help you much. You may also end up with a car that is not street legal. The carbon canister and PCV will not have much effect on the performance of your car. If you are talking about an intake change and headers then you will feel a difference. I wish they would do a tail pipe sniff and forget about what is under the hood. With todays technology you could build a car with headers and a twin high flow cats that would run cleaner than new and flow as good as a car with just mufflers. ------------------ The Pontiac Trans Am Page |
