Not to sure on this but wasn't the outside read deck lid spoiler caps shorter on the sides than in other years or were they the same to 73?

160 speedo with seat belt warning was required for cars produced 1/1/72 & later. A few late Dec of '71 car were prob built with seat belt warning light as well.

Have examined original '70 1/2 T/A's with two different sized rear swaybars.
All the original & complete '71 & '72 T/A's I've ever looked at def had the 7/8" rear swaybar.

The thermostat housing used on the 1970 Firebird V-8 engines is a carryover from the previous years. From 1971 foward, a new housing was used with a different angle.

I see two posts with 'black center caps on rally 2 wheels". Was this an early model year deal? The reason I'm asking is that I had a lucerne blue 70 TA new in 70 and it had red center caps - build date was May 70. It was a 4 speed and had a black shift knob. It also came minus the nose bird and with custom door handles on a standard interior car.

Just wondering on the center caps.

As I understand it,the red PMD's were what came on ALL 70-72 T/A's,but I'm sure that a few slipped out with the black ones.

Also, those caps are about as easy to change out as 4 speed shift knobs.

In MY opinion the black PMD's look BETTER on some colors: red, brown, green, gold, etc.

Haven't looked myself but is there any reference to them on the build sheet?

May have been me - I posted a few pictures about a year ago of my 70 TA that were taken in 70. Most of them are currently posted on my "still in development, mostly pontiac stuff" website - you can see them by following this link http://www.midmichiganmuscle.com/70TA.htm

Default 70 Differences

70 dash wiring harness is also different. 70 has the 2 floor convenience lights at the end of the dash.

Good thread.

I can't speak for '72s but these lights were included as part of a convenience lamp option in '71. Also included a trunk lamp on everything, and an underhood lamp on non TAs (not sure about Formulas...)

That is the courtesy lamp group. Available from '70-81. Its actually a plug and play separate harness that can be easily added to a car originally without the option.

Did anyone mention the '70 only door glass weatherstrip? It is shorter at the back end in the door jamb area.
Someone mentioned the plastic bumper to radiator support filler? This was only originally used on VN built & A/C equipped Firebirds, although there has been a couple non-air VN FB that have surfaced.
Also, someone stated JW wheels were '70 only. Not correct. Early & mid production '71 used JW's before the change to KN's. I have documented (byu the original owners statement anyway) that his '71 was built with 2 JW & 3 KN (full size spare).
