Sometimes I just don't think. I thought I had a good idea hot gluing the manifold together . Never dawned on me that when I start welding the glue would melt and all the parts would fall down like a row of dominos .. Lol

The problem with welding an old cast intake is its dirty metal. A lot of impurities in it.. so u get all those black marks..

Progress, looks good.

FYI,i was told by a aircraft guy that if you can find access to liquid nitrogen and put a cast alu piece in it that it cleans it where it is much more easy to weld.FWIW,Tom

Thank you Jeff..
There's a lot of areas at the short turn that still need more fill..

Didn't read every Post. I've done a few Torkers.
Give Special attention to metal removals to the ceiling blends into each runner. Only Runner 7 is at risk of break-out. |

can you explain you mean?

Every Runner has a transition into the Plenum. Well, the ceiling transition is crap because the turn radius allow detanced flow that will pick the runner flow.
Increase the turn radius for great high-speed flow. |

I started to do that . But I need more weld to finish.
Thanks for the advice .

Is nice to be able to start the Ceiling blend from the edge of each Carb hole exit, so the Metal acting as the Spacer/adapter/flange is an intentionally-picked reference.

so what shape would you go for. A round radius or more of s slope?

Holy crap: some auto- word-replacement is going on again with my Ipad.
Detached flow will cause a flow that pinches the runner flow. Goal: go for the opposite of a decreasing radius turn. So an increasing radius ceiling turn. |

So I drew a sketch of 2 shapes. The one on the right is what I have now. You're saying this is wrong? Are you saying the one on the left would be better?

The right-side will flow better due to promoting attached flow.

Imagine if a Carb had the Throttleplate exits aimed at the Runners. The fuel/air mix would have a straight shot into the runners, and that would be good.

Some more progress on the manifold. I think I have enough weld on the flange now to be able to grind it back to a square bore. Added more weld to the short turns and welded on the front wing. Next is getting more weld inside the roof of the runners.... Then the from half of the floor...
