Default Inside rear view mirror uh-oh

71 T37,
I obviously did the wrong way of removing the mirror, I pulled the inside mirror out by the ball and socket, how do I get it back in? Does it have to be like hammered back in or do I just put the ball back in the socket and screw the retaining clip back on?
Anyone don't this before?

Put the ball back in, clamp it and tighten the screw.
Hammer is not required...
