For a 69 A body.

If you have radio delete, what goes on with the front speaker? Grill? No grill? Speaker mounted anyway? Speaker mount not spot welded to cowl?

If you have radio delete or power antenna, what goes on with the front antenna wire hole in the right side front cowl panel area where it runs through to the fender? Grommet? Hole not punched?

Anyone know the answers to these and other very important questions?

I know one thing for sure, Steve: There is no such thing as a Radio Delete on a 69 A-body as a Radio was optional and not standard equipment...

i would assume you still have the grill in the dash... its the way it comes..no

I dont know for sure....Im not sure at what point things are put together from factory.

Radios were an option..... i was gonna radio delete my judge but i spent tooo much time & money locating correct antenna & base & then have a hole in fender

I asked Dan Jensen years ago what came in his T-37 and he told me the speaker and the antenna lead were in place on that car. Also, the windshield had the antenna embedded in it. Of course, his T is a 71 but I would say it would be similar procedure in 69 with the exception of the antenna.

I can't specifically speak for '69 GTOs without a radio as I have never looked at an original car without a radio. But I can tell you that we own 3 cars that were built without a radio, '70 nova, '72 Nova, and a '72 Buick GS Stage 1. All 3 cars cars had a piece of black cardboard (similar to what some glove box liners are made of) literally taped to the bottom of the dash where the speaker would normally be located. This prevented seeing the wires and backside of the dash when you look through the windshield. I would imagine that GTOs and other GM cars from that era had something similar covering the speaker opening.

On the wire hole thru the cowl I would think it just got a rubber plug/grommet. My 70 has the w/s antennae yet the cowl still had a hole punched for the wire.....it has a rubber plug in it.

I can see it on ebay now......NOS radio delete antennae wire plugs and they will sell for hundreds of $$$!

I'm able to answer one of the question with this car, looks like it has the hole punched and regular gromet with hole. By the way, it's a IV car too here in Tulsa so I may get the scoop on the speaker also.

Man, that looks like a car I looked at back in the mid 90's near Detroit. Same color combo and hit in the exact place.

Noticed it still has a 2-piece original style disk rotor.

I'm not sure where he's at on the rebuild/resto. I know he has the repaired frame back and it looks sweet. Makes me wonder why I didn't repair a frame or two, doesn't really look that hard. I know he'll see the thread, so maybe he'll bless us with a current pic.

This is an awsome question and one i have been searching the answer to for years. The 69 gto radio delete plate is a different part number and looks the same as the full length plate just no holes for the radio and 2 studs on the back. The speaker is the harder question. I have never confirmed on the pontiac but on 442 there was a plate over the hole held in with 2 screws shown in the manual - but we own 2 radio delete 442's and neither have the plate - the one is 23,000 mile and there was a speaker in the hole. I have also heard they all get the speaker either way. Camaro guys also say the same thing speaker

I would like to know if you could get Heater delete in 69 you could in 442 and others. what did they do vent or no vent.

I have a black 64 lemans with red guts that was special ordered by archbishop of Seattle catholic church, have docs, ordered with no radio, it had a speaker mounted in the dash brand new never used, I put it in my 64 gto vert years ago. Clone it to a gto in 1989 hood, core support, redid the quaters, a original red line with hurst wheel for the spare, tilt, wood wheel, 4 speed with right shifter it was a 3 speed, possi, remote mirror,splitters, dome reading lamps, factory tach, door edge guards, power steering and brakes, rear defog, took 455 dished pistons, used ported 64 gto heads, did every thing on the top end to look like a 389 3x2 car. Anybody know why the vin is so low 824f10008 and the build date is 1 c?

My guess would be....no antenna, no hole in fender, grommet in cowl, grill in dash, but no speaker. Glove box cardboard taped under grill sounds reasonable.

Steve, how is that vert coming along?

i have purchased a black cardboard board thats the shape of the radio that blocks where the speaker went in upper dash... from inlinetube. I CAN MAKE IT
