I wouldn't have to do that if one person here in Tulsa didn't own every 455 car in the south!

Take a look at this red rag top thread and look at the engine bay shot, it has what would appear to be the 455 mounts. Now I'm wondering if my old 69 had pre drilled holes of this nature......

You're right. I went through pictures of my frame last night & found other pictures of standard 400 frames and they do have the same holes. Have no clue then what the difference would be other than the part number.

And here's a picture of the part number on my frame. That would be another way the car in question that started this topic could be verified as a 455 car.

Probably because the frame included the bracket to receive the mount. Same thing with several part numbers for the same rad shroud, difference was the insulators were included and different rads needed different insulators.

Maybe big block chev etc, I think all A bodies used the same frame

That would be my thought too; but these holes appear to the naked eye dead on match to wrongway's photo.

those holes are in all the frames...i bolted a pair of the big 455 mounts in a 70 GTO convert, they bolted right in....my 70 Cutlass convert has the same holes, and so does my 71 GS

So generic holes that when needed the mounts are drilled to match the pre drilled frame holes? I can get on board with that.

We went around on this topic in another thread and it was decided by the priests and witches of Specific GTO Glory that no other frame in the universe is the same as the hallowed Pontiac GTO frame which was designed to be the only possible frame that one could put under a GTO. Furthermore no Old, Buick, Chevy frame would be the same, be close, have the same unique features or be possible to install underneath the unique GTO, and that people like me who have thought and done otherwise had better stop talking and better start listening to the loyal priests and witches of Specific GTO Glory. Furthermore if these is anything unusual about a given frame, be aware that it is impossible since all of these handmade cars are virginal and no one ever swapped one out with one from a lowly Chevelle or Cut-less because that would never have worked.

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...t=change+frame

Sorry for my rant, but you may have a frame from another car, or may not.

I saw two 71 Judges this weekend, one had the brackets removed and one had the standard old brackets we are used to. Makes me wonder.
