These are the books I've bought, but I can't seem to figure out the system for finding a specific part number. For instance, I've been looking for several options such as power windows and cruise control, and a replacement Rally Gauge cluster with tachometer. The Pontiac illustrations catalog does not show the part number. While the parts catalog is a list of parts/numbers, but there seems to be several options for the same year and part. Same with the Fischer and red Pontiac Service and Assembly manuals.

Then I find a few pages from a Mitchell Manual that the original owner must have given me. That seems to be the ticket. Illustrations have A, B, C, etc. from each part in the exploded view, then the associated part name and number right there. But the few pages I have are limited to body and chassis parts that would be damaged in an accident. Not optional equipment like power seats

I haven't spent time with the manuals, just glanced through them. Do I have what I need, or is there a different "magic book" with exploded view, part names and numbers all in one place that I need to chase down?

The illustration book are Vol. 1 groups 0.0000 to group 8.0000 and Vol. 2 groups 9.0000 to 15.0000. Look at table of contents for what group covers what parts. Then find illustration for the part you're looking for. then go down to find the expanded group no. parts. it will be a number beginning with the group no, and then 4 more digits. Next, go to the part number book and see the group number from illustration and find your application (73AG in your case). Part no. will be to the rh of application. Hope this helps. I would say that Assembly Manual might have it in there also.
As mlewisariz said, the Parts & Illustration Books probably have it in there.
Sometimes it is hard to 'find'. Have to know what group it is then go down to the subsection.

Sometimes the part has different variations according to the model number. And the model number may be abbreviated in the listing. Such as 42 for 65-71 GTOs, 37 for hardtop models or All for all models.
When I'm looking for a particular part under the group number I always go by the model year, then by the particular model in the description.

The illustration guide does not always show an illustration for every year. But you can still use an illustration for a different year just to obtain the Group Number for the part your looking for, which doesn't change from year to year.

If you have the Assembly Manual, you should be able to check section 6 (Engine) and look for the cruise control mounting. Section 12 (Electrical) would probably have the instrument cluster and power window info.
