Thanks!
It looks very clean. You're living the hobby at it's finest. That's where the magic is for me too. You can try something and change it if you want, or even go back. |

turbo now
So now I have decided to install a turbo on my motor. Went ahead and bought hot exhaust. from Dirty Dingo. Turbo will be 76-80+mm, 46mm W.G. & 50mm BOV. carb will probably be 750cfm from CSU..check couple pictures from Dirty Dingo website..I know probably not the best exhaust system, it will probably be ok, I dont have time to cut and weld my exhaust system.

These guys know a HEAP about turbocharging 5.3 LSx motors. Just thought I'd post the link in case it helps you out at all.
Cheers! https://sites.google.com/site/sloppy...unkyardturbols |

Before you put the turbo on, did you calculate the cost of the LS swap? I was just curious. Everyone says its a cheap swap but seems like you spent some coin.I have a car in mind for an LS swap and want to know what I'm in for.

Yup is not cheap, Adds up eventually, If you are able to used your ls with out changing anything, except cam and springs, maybe you can get away with cost, like fabbing your own exhaust, keeping it efi, but then the turbo, wastegate , BOV, piping, exhaust, injectors, and tuning your car. |

ls swap
I blew that 5.3 motor racing on the street, now it has stock 6.0, corvette heads with BTR springs, retainers and .620" lift cam, FiTech efi stand alone harness Intanks efi system. This is the last time I mess with ls motor, this one blows I have a 455 I can put back in car.

FrankieT/A, yup no more turbo, this 6.0 should be around 500 to crank, plenty for me, turbos are addicting, I was always
Doing burn outs and racing on street with that turbo. |

I have another thread going right now selling my Pontiac roller cam and lifters because of switching to LS. I have a 6.0 with LS3 heads with 5k miles on it . I'm putting my FITect on it because of functional hood scoop. Still collecting swap parts. I'll post pics when complete.

That 5.3 with springs and .587" lift cam will run high 12's all day long, I couldn't believe it, Never had a chance to run it on the track with the turbo but was expecting high 10's,
Now will see how it runs with the 6.0. |

I wasn't very happy having a LS motor in it, they sound very different than pontiacs , I defenetely love the pontiac sound, and my buddy convinced me to sell him the motor. I got a 455 4 bolt that is going back in there.

So after all that...how did the 5.3 non-turbo compare to the 455 in driveability? And then the 6.0? HP and torque may be similar but the rpm curve is higher. I've been thinking of going LS but reluctant to lose the bottom end torque. I REALLY miss the power of my 11-sec T-Type so was thinking LS turbo, but don't want to drive around a gutless turn when off boost.
