Group. I'm putting a driveshaft in a 67 firebird. The yoke for the differential does not have detents or 'stops' to center the ujoint before installing the u-bolt clamps like I've seen in other applications.
My question is do I just center it by feel as best as I can, tighten the bolts and call it good?

Yokes like that usually require snap-rings on the u-joint cups, that slide between the two ears on the yoke for centering.

Thank you Quicksilver, my driveshaft is a later model. Perhaps they make an adaptor u-joint as the caps on mine do not seem to have grooves for clips.

Here's what I have for a driveline. It's off a 77 pontiac firebird. The length is right.

It is very important to use the proper U-joint to keep the driveshaft centered in the yoke. It gets really nasty really quick at high speeds and the U-bolts will not keep things centered. Once the U-joint moves over at speed the increasing imbalance will whip and destroy the driveshaft. As Clay said, the inside C-clips are necessary to keep things centered.

Here is a photo of what you need, just for example. The C-clips are a spring steel and they snap over the grooves you see in the bearing caps - I just slip them onto the groove and pop them with a hammer to snap them on. Then these clips sit inside the yoke and keep the u-joint from going sideways.

You shouldn't have any issues matching something up, maybe even an earlier Pontiac u-joint. Just take some measurements to include the inside diameter of your yoke, and most u-joints you pull up on the internet do have these measurements.

Thank you guys for your advice. It was extremely helpful. For me, the U-joint Napa uj372 is the one I needed. It's an adapter joint that allowed me to use my later model drive shaft that required outer clips and to fit the differential yoke which requires the inner Clips. Thank you for your help.
