Firewall sealing
The Assembly Manual makes reference to an adhesive # 9980664 to be used at various places on the firewall - the top of blower housing, wire grommets, parking brake studs, etc. What is the correct product to use? I believe it may be a brushable black seam sealer, but I'm not sure what to purchase. What do you all use? Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds like it could be dum dum rather than a seam sealer. I used 3M Strip Caulk to seal my A/C box to the firewall. I could see it being used around wire grommets too.

In the interest of keeping the integrity of the FIREwall, you should look into the fire-rated sealants that are available.

With the Way-Back Machine I'm reviving this thread with the same question as the original poster.

So, for the firewall; What are people using these days to seal the outside edges of the heater box, heater wiring plug, accessory wiring plug and the fusebox? I thought about liquid tape; https://www.amazon.com/Gardner-Bende...7RZGL5MW&psc=1 but not to sure if thats a good substitute.

The parking brake studs on the cowl side out past their attaching nuts were often smeared with dum dum.
Have ran across this on many of own keepers & partcars. Will never forget, 15 years ago in MN in Dec I was in a monster yard pulling a really really nice pair of colored non AC kick panels out of a '71 Malibu. Whats left of the sealed up body of the Malibu was setting in a foot plus of snow, the rusty fenders & coresupport still bolted on, though the car's frame had previously been pulled for dirt modified guys. After fighting to get the drivers door open, it took what seemed like an eternity to get the nuts off the parking brake bracket thanks to the frozen dum dum. After about 45 mins I was finally able to remove the parking brake assembly & remove the drivers side non AC kick panel. Wiring grommet.... Have often seen a small tail of seam sealer next to the grommet that the tach lead goes through.
