Default Sad, Sad Days

Around 12-14 years ago I parked my 62 Catalina in the garage to rebuild the front suspension and do a little clean up including scraping off the undercoating on the underside of the car. Life got in the way and the car sat parked inside the garage untouched until a few months ago. This was going to be my retirement project and I stalled out again. Time for me to get off my lazy a$$ and get going again. I went gung ho just before retiring on building some custom stuff because I would no longer have access to a lathe, Bridgeport mill, press, belt sander, welders etc. The good pictures are the before pictures - the dirty pictures are the after pictures - or how it looks today. It makes me sick what I allowed to happen.

Thanks for the pics,
Looks to be a rust fee and when you get your finger out and finish the mechanics, and are driving down the road the good times will be priceless, please keep blokes like me up to date with more photos, love them full size cars.

Mine's not quite as dusty as yours but it's been sitting for a few years as well. Life happens, nothing be ashamed of - at least it's safe in the garage and not out in the weather deteriorating, that dust will wash right off.

Beautiful car with a great color combo! You're not too far from burning some gas, get to it!

Your car looks allot like mine! Slightly different blue. Just looks dirty. Condition looks great from your pics. Get her back on the road and enjoy that beauty.

It's a car. Life didn't get in the way, you have your priorities straight. I'd just cleaned it up, install the suspension and get it driving again. Don't start digging into new areas like the undercoating. Your probably looking at replacing the rubber brake lines, fuel pump, rebuilding the carb. and checking for rodents in the exhaust system.

GREAT colors. Stop & think what it would cost today to drag that home today-consider it money in the bank

Reminds me of my cousins. Fresh repaint and then parked. Been like that for 15 years. And I doubt it will get better.

Mine had sat since 1987 when I found it, tucked away in a barn in Pa.
Looked like every bird and creature had left something on it.
Brought it home, pressure washed it and looks just fine!

Get it rolled out and washed. Seeing it clean will add the incentive you need to get it on the road. Time & Life slow us all down sometimes., don’t let it make you quit!!

I consider it to look like the "barn find" that gets posted so often these days BUT you know the history, it being yours. Nothing to be ashamed of here, once you clean it you'll be happy and energized. Tri color interior is sweet!

I know the feeling, but remember, its just a car - Time spent with loved ones, is time well spent

Can't wait for updates, video rolling it out and washing it, barn find cleans make for very satisfying videos!

Cruising in the winter in NJ, top down heater on full blast. I remember those days.
