Default Question on proper 1965 "caution" fan sticker use

Should 1965 GTO's with air conditioning and the full fan shroud have a caution sticker on the shroud, or were those only placed on the non-AC cars small fan shield?

Thanks!

Yes it does go on the top of the fan shroud for A/C cars also.

I always thought that sticker should sit on the core support A/C or not.
Just don´t look right sitting on the fan shroud pointing at the engine.

It is a waterslide. Not a sticker, like our host has available.......

Well the one I bought was the GM authorized sticker, and after trying it in about four different locations on the fan shroud I gave up; no way you can get that sticker to lay flat on that surface because of the curves.

Agreed, if it was on the core support flat it would at least look better, but with the AC top seals mounted and clipped across the top of the core support all around the radiator, there really isn't a good place to put it, so I still wonder what is correct.

Bill, are you saying there is a "waterslide" version of the sticker that you think would bend/curve/lay down on the shroud and look correct?

Thanks!

The waterslide version IS what Pontiac used in 64-65 for the battery label, the fan shroud label and the trunk jack label. The waterslide material is much thinner and does conform nicer. When car is being judged at a GTOAA events, the judges can tell which the restorer used by feeling the edge thickness. Points deducted if not a waterslide!

I have seen the FAN caution decal sit beside the AC top seal on drivers side of core support, same place as non-AC cars (A.body).

Default Question on proper 1965 caution fan sticker

I see lots of detailing type labels, stickers, etc. in the catalog labeled as “Decals”. In the past whenever I ordered any of these what I got was a vinyl peel and stick item. Evidently, the fan caution is now a water slide. How can you tell what other items may also now be water slides such as jack instructions, battery caution, tire pressure, etc. ?

If you need a waterslide call me. I have printed and ready to ship. You can visit http://www.ohiomusclecar.com on a desktop to view other decals available. Mobile version is in the works.

I have an original unrestored 65 GTO with A/C. I have included some pictures to show how the waterslide placards are placed on my Baltimore 12 E built car. From knowing other original owners the placard's locations varied based on the plant from where the car was built.

Looking at the waterslide shown on post # 12 (battery) it is very close to the original but not quite the same. The caution fan version from vendors are off as well. However that is an excellent way to distinguish originals from reproductions.

This is where my original Pontiac built fan label / water slide was located.
