black factory paint on 87 cutlass salon

I have a 87 Cutlass with the original paint and wondered if it would buff out OK and what would be best product to start with . It's in great shape and just has minor flaws . Shines great now but as with any black it would just be that much better if it can be buffed out . I think it may be Lacquer on it from the factory ? Thanks much for any tips .
