I put a 400/400 in a 1957. I used Indian Adventures motor mounts and made my own trans cross member. Indian Adventures is no longer in business and I don't know if they were bought out or just closed. Maybe someone here knows. Their mounts bolted to the block and fastened it to the front cross member. By spacing the mounts up off the cross member slightly stock exhaust manifolds fit easily. The mounts were not very complicated and if you are handy you could make them yourself. The only draw back to them was you could not use the mechanical fuel pump. I spliced the factory shift rod to the one that came with the Turbo 400 trans to connect the trans to the column shifter. I also converted to electric wipers. Good luck you should have a nice combo when done.

I use the 2nd style Hurst engine mount in mine. May need some matching frame pieces from a 55-57 Chevy and some biscuit mounts. Than a cross member made , mine sits on top of ledge for x frame. Steering gearbox and master cylinder need to be accounted for especially if you want a rear exit manifold on the driver side.

Following as I bought a '56 Chieftain yesterday. My plans are to install a '73 455 and turbo 400. I found this picture online for a Hurst mount that says for engines up to '67. Bill, what year engine is in yours and is this the same mount? A picture on installed in the car would be a great help. I also fund a post with detailed pictures and measurements to fabricate a set; https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...ontiac.998644/

Thanks,

Bill Eveland had a 4 page post that covered his Hurst front mount. Start on the 2nd page, post #28 for pictures. His front timing cover was a '60 model, which may be a stretch for a 455.

I'm guessing it said up to 1967 because that particular kit was made in 1967.
