Nice to play "look at me" as it is obvious the seller is not interested in actually selling at that price.

Question Things that make you go Hmm...

So is this the one and only that once resided under the hood of Mac's '63 after PMD gifted it to him upon his retirement,
then for reasons unknown removed, never to return to Mac's beloved '63?

Anyone know the FACTS on this engine and how/why it left Mac's possession??
That needs to be back under the hood.

If I had lottery money, I would own it and it would be running in my 62 Catalina. Realistically, it is priceless. It will be worth what some buyer and the seller are able to work out if the seller in fact wants to sell. I would have no problem believing a 100K sale .

My now getting more feeble every day memory tells me some sheister worked on the car for Mac when he was still alive, and maybe not as mentally sharp as in his younger years. Another engine was installed in the car, or maybe no engine was ever re-installed. The facts of what actually happened have been publicized in a magazine of some kind, maybe one of the now defunct Pontiac magazines....

Seemed like there was a cam wear problem...

I'd really like to know who is trying to sell this??? might just be the person that conned Mac...

Where is Mac's car now????

Unhappy

Hopefully still within his Family. It was also my understanding that the DOHC needed some work and a 389 now rest between the fenders of his '63.
I've heard negative things on how this all transpired but would rather hear from someone who knows for sure.

That's not right if it was stolen from the estate, or the car. It looks like the intake manifolds been off of the block. It has no bolts in it or any distributor cap. It need to be back with the car or in a Museum not in a garage behind someones Trans Am

From what I remember Mac's Memory was fading, the guy doing the repair work basicly stole the engine from him. Nothing the Police could do as it was an "Oral" contract with Mac who may or may not have agreed to the deal. Very Sad.

So this thread has me thinking... I seem to remember someone on here (maybe Tom S?) saying that Pontiac never cast fewer than 10(?) pieces of any given part. All of the pieces on Mac's engine sure looked like nice castings, really nice for "one off" parts. Is it possible there were more of these OHC pieces around?

Looks like that's even got a hoist hook on the near side valve cover, since you couldn't use the standard pick up point with the cam chains in the way. Production consideration?

The one on the cover of Hot Rod also had the black crinkle finish on the cam covers, same one?

I sent him an email asking about history other than what’s in the magazines. I’ll let you know if he responds assuming he’s not a member here and will respond directly. Very cool piece for sure.

If anyone would know the real story I would think it would be Keith Seymore.
