There too heavy for there level of strength they provide.

The average stock bob weight for a stock Bore 400 cast piston , pin , Rod and rings is like 2552, and even with the lighter RAVs forged piston there bob weight is more!

The factory engineers jumped at the chance to design the SD455 rod which is lighter yet stronger

The Factory RA-V Rods were made locally in the Detroit Area.
They resembled a Ford "A" shape rod. They were heavy.

I have a couple of sets of the Carrillo 366 engine rods which are a lot nicer rod.
These are old date rods but never run. No one seems to like the 7.080" length but it works great with a 3.5" Kellogg Crank (stock stroke is 3.375" for the 366).

This works out to a 1.385" pin height which still allows a normal ring groove without a spacer. Beats the heck out of a 1.712 or a 1.665 compression height piston design
And the top ring is still .300 down on the piston.

So I see nothing good about the "Ford" Pontiac RA-V connecting rod.
