For a decent driver they cant be that hard to restore. A good sandblasting and a decent paint job. Not like there is alloy that needs buffed out. I would imagine you could get them media blasted then take to a body shop to get them painted and it would be at least as good as new, which should be concours acceptable.

There is more to it than that to have them like the original wheel, the Gray on the backside has a certain amount of overspray and many of the earlier wheels had a colored band sprayed on the inside of the rim that I believe let you know application (69 JA wheel was yellow, 70 JL was light blue ETC) so you have to know the original and or have a good original to base your restoration on as the small details are the ones that stand out, even something as small as having the right valve stems and caps..... Sorry just my OCD leaping out on the keyboard and I have done a bunch of these wheels

Even more reason why you do it then. A shop will only be too neat, they will not know or care for adding mess like overspray. Remember to bash wheel weights onto the fresh paint to balance.
