Default 1974 Firebird Formula 400... with a 2bbl?

So, I recently purchased a 1974 Firebird Formula 400. I was thrown off a bit when I discovered it had a 2bbl. Is it just me or is that really odd on a Formula 400? I was told the car had been ordered that way. I have looked at and owned a fair number of Formulas over the years, but this is the first time I had ever seen this.

So I guess my question is, has anyone else seen this? After a couple weeks I still can't wrap my mind around someone ordering a Formula, but then wanting only a 2bbl carb.

To answer a few of the obvious questions: The car does not appear to have ever been modified with the exception of the usual stereo and mag wheels. It is indeed a Formula (2U87). No, I haven't ordered a PHS yet as I want to get it running and drive it a little bit before I spend any additional money on it.
