Default Anti Pump Up Lash Adjusters

Hello All

Been going through my OHC 6 stash of 25-30 years, wanting to build me a screamer.

Found a Set of Johnson VL-60 Anti Pump-Up Lash Adjusters for the Ol'e Cammer.

Anyone ever used Johnson Anti Pump Up Lifters or Lash adjusters in the days of 25-30 years ago??

I also have a Sig Erson 290 Deg. Cam still new on the shelf, a set of 12.5 CR pistons, 6 Inch Rods and Total Seal Rings.

Smokey Unick used to say, "Put the LONGEST RODS you can in the engine", 6 inch is about as long as you can go without going Crazy with the Pistons or Crank I guess.

My finances are pretty tight these days due to Family Obligations, but I do have allot of things in storage that won't cost me anything now, so why not right.

I am Officially Retired these days, so guess I will have some fun.

So what'ya think?

Take Care,

Dusty

I dont see how youre going to use a 12.5 CR piston and a 6 inch rod.
what is CH of the rod?
Ive used alot of the Johnsons,Melling was the major supplier of them.
I think you need more cowbell(cam) if you re running 6 inch rods and a 12.5 CR.
off course youll need ignition, exhaust and intake mods to match.

Hello

The Pistons are Shorties, the wrist pin bore just clears the oil ring grove by about .090 in.

The Rods are 6.0 in. C/C

The ol'e Sig Erson 290 Cam should work pretty well I think. If not I can have my BILLET BLANKS ground that I have in my link, then I can really go CRAZY with the Cam.

The distance from the top of the wrist pin bore to the flat top of the piston is .910 in.
It has 1/16" rings and 3/16" Oil Ring, pretty tight grouping.

Piston OAL is Approx. 2.300", plus the 12.5 CR Kickers on the top.

I also have a Professionally ported and prepped head and valves.

I am also running an HEI Short Cap and an MSD 6AL, Want to get a set of Primatech Headers, Maybe, Someday?????

All the Parts are ON Hand now, with the exception of the Primatech Headers.

Should run pretty strong I think.

Take Care,

Dusty

P.S.
How did you like the Johnson Lifters/Lash Adjusters in your engines?

I really like the design improvements compared to OEM
I use nothing else unless the OEMs are new.

I did have one set that had a tick.
warehouse said bring back the bad one and they will replace.
I asked how to access and test to isolate and they agreed, gave me a new full set, problem cured.
I should have investigated but at time had alot of other things on my plate.
