Default Muncie 4 speed

Muncie 4 speed. 3925660 casting number. I was told it is a M21, but can not verify it by looking at the transmission. It was modified by previous owner who was going to use it in a road race car. They welded a piece of aluminum plate to the top to prevent the case from flexing. There is a slight twist in the output shaft splines, but I was told it did not cause any issue. $800 OBO.

If it's for road racing it may have m22 guts installed, that's what m22's were designed for.

If it's a n M22 here's what the gears should look like.

Did you ever determine which Muncie this is? (M20, 21, 22?)

I'd say it's an M22 (Rock-crusher). No input shaft grooves and straight cut gears.

Not yet. We are on vacation now and in the middle of moving. I will pop the inspection cover when I get back. Sorry for the delay.

It may be. I was told M21. I just know it won’t work for the build I am planning with the Lemans. I will need a stouter transmission and I want overdrive.
