Default 4 speed lockout

I’m putting together a 78 4 speed car which was missing the reverse lock out linkage. I have sourced two different lockout assemblies which will both work, but I’m not sure which is correct. The first one I picked up was supposed to be off a 78, but has an extra tab and hole which I cannot determine what it’s for. The other one I picked up is off of a 76 and matches up to even a 1973 that I’m working on. Any help is appreciated, especially photos.

So I laid out both sets of lockout assemblies side by side. None of the rods were interchangable as I attepted to install on my 78. The configurations displayed consist of the setup I removed from a 77 on the top. The lower on was removed from a 78. The rods attaching to the steering column are also specific to a 4 speed as the end is machined to 3/8" while all automatic rod ends are cut down to 5/16" Obviously there is a different rubber grommet and sleeve for each application.

Next I'll share the part numbers, but of course I left my notes at work so that'll be another post!

Here are the part numbers of reverse lock out assemblies I've come across:

'77 upper rod: 0-5624
'78 upper rod: 3067

'77 lower rod: no # (pitted)
'78 lower rod: 3072

Idler lever/swivel

'70-'77: no stamp
'78: 3073

The top one is correct.

This is out of my 1978 Y88 4 speed.

I would be interested in purchasing the lockout off of the 1976 if you decide not to use it? Thanks

Crazy Dave you are posting this. I am looking for the same set up as well. You are on my list of guys to ask if you have a spare!

Good luck with your search!

Chicago Muscle Car might have some parts available, have you tried them?

Jim
