At the very top left is the date code. Hard to see but it looks like 03D, which means March (03) and the 4th week (D) of that month.
65-26267 is the body code, it tells it's a 1965 (65) Pontiac (2) Bonneville (62) convertible (67)
BC is the Southgate, California plant where the car was assembled. 640 is the production sequence (I have no further details about that).
TR 272 is the color of the interior, in this case Parchment (white) and TOP2 says it has a black convertible top. Body paint is, as you already knows, A Starlight Black

Just like to ask if the 272 interior trim is saying parchment with red / dash / dash top / kick panels / carpet ?

Most only parchment / black is found

There is a color and interior guide at this location that may be helpful, along with an accessory guide and factory brochure: http://oldcarbrochures.org/United%20...iac/index.html

Yes, Code 272 was specific to the '65 Bonneville Convertible and identified the Parchment and Red interior trim.

It was Imitation Leather (polite way of saying Morrokide Vinyl).

The Parchment and Red interior trim color scheme was only offered in the Front Bench Seat configuration, was not offered with the Bucket Seat Trim for the Bonneville Convertible.

Assuming your Convertible has the Front Bench Seat, sounds like it retains the original interior trim as per the Body Data Plate (as the tag in your photo is called, it is not a "Build Sheet"). The Body Data Plate was a regurgitation of what would have been coded on the various build manifests that dictated the build, the Body Data Plate did not govern the build, it just regurgitated certain codes.

I mention this because sometimes errors were made on the Data Plate when coded. These errors didn't affect the build because the actual manifests controlled the build. But when accurately regurgitated they can at least confirm the original Paint color and interior Trim as yours apparently does.

I love the color combination! Very jazzy convertible.

BTW, my source is the Trim Combination codes listed in the '66 Master BODY Parts Catalog.

Hello John .. thx for that information. and confirm of the 272 tag code. That’s the way to go in my restoration .like it was factory .. .. never saw this combination at the www so I believe it’s a rare combination the first owner ordered..
.already have the new red carpet ..the parchment interior kit is ordered too but during covid on backorder since last March ..
I’m sure it will looking nice with the starlight black paint if finish .

No doubt a fairly unusual interior Trim choice.

I don't know for sure but seems to me the Bonneville generally and the Bonneville Convertible in particular was marketed as a "sporty" big car.

As a consequence, I figure a high percentage of them were optioned with the "sporty" Bucket Seat interior.

Only 3 of the Bonneville Convertible Trim combinations were NOT offered in both Bucket Seat and Bench Seat styles.

Parchment and Red, Gold, and Dark Turquoise and Medium Turquoise combinations were only offered with the Bench Seat.

I could be wrong, but might explain a part of the rarity.

Regardless, I still like the combo, especially with the Starlight Black exterior.

This is very interesting to me in that my 1965 Parisienne Convertible (built in Canada in Right Had Drive and exported to Australia as a fully built car), also has the 272 trim on the build plate.

Parchment trim, red dash, red carpet etc. Nice combination.
