Here is the procedure for removing the heater core from a non A/C car. It is taken directly from the 65 service manual.

1. Drain radiator & remove glove box.

2. Disconnect heater inlet & outlet hoses from heater.

3. disconnect control cables at heater core case assembly.

4. Remove wire connector from resistor assembly from top left side of heater air outlet
duct assembly by prying connector up with a flat blade screwdriver.

5. Cut hole in skirt. (wheel well)

6. Remove six nuts securing heater to air inlet duct assembly & remove heater assembly.

7. Remove heater core & case assembly.

8. Replace by reversing above procedure.

9. Plug skirt hole.

10. Adjust control cables.

A word about step 5. Do this step only if you are not concerned about originality. If you want to keep it original, you will have to remove the fender & the skirt. (wheel well) When replacing my heater core I found the under dash access much easier if you remove the passenger seat first. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Make sure you put the core into the cover/enclosure then insall as one piece from inside under the dash, I learned the hard way

I had to replace one on my 67 and found that by removing the passenger front wheel I could drop the fender liner enough to get to the heater box retainers.
