Hubcap interchange ?????
I have a 65 boneville with the factory 14" wheels.
The car did not have any hubcaps with it when I bought it. I got on ebay and bought a set of 63 hubcaps because I like how they look compared to 65. But..... I am having trouble getting them on the wheels so will 63 hubcaps fit on 65 wheels. Am I doing something wrong. I am pretty handy I thought for sure I could install hubcaps. Thanks for the help |

You might have overlooked something simple, like 14" vs 15"?
A tape measure will answer this question pretty quick. |

These are for 14" I am sure. They almost go on but are VERY tight. I thought about bending the clips some
Not sure if that would help |

It's possible someone bent them for a tighter fit, so they wouldn't fly off anymore.
I certainly can picture an annoyed owner doing it. Before attempting to bend them, eyeball your old ones as a reference. Might even want to stick with slightly tight (just not impossible to install tight). If the tabs have been bent, the tape measure might help you identify which areas need the most coaxing. Did I mention I like measuring things? |

Ok so I grabbed a tape measure and the area where the tabs are is about 13 1/4" give or take a litte. The wheel measures the same where the hubcaps should sit.
But...... I figured out what is wrong. The inside of the hubcap is hitting the nubs where a dog dish hubap would sit. So its back to locating something else besides these. I really liked these too. Oh well |

Good on you for figuring it out though. |

If you have the heavy big car caps they will not work on your wheels. They were held on by spring clips that fit in slots in the wheels. Later caps snapped on over nubs that were formed into the wheels.

Are the hubcaps you looking for hub caps (i.e. "dog dish" style) and not full wheel covers? As another person said, the '64 and older "dog dish" style used clips that fit into slots in the wheel. Because of the brakes I'm installing and slightly larger wheels, I'm using the '64 and newer "dog dish" style GTO hubcaps on the steel wheels for my '64 Grand Prix. Those hubcaps will fit on newer style wheels with the "nubs."

They're full wheel covers (note that he posted a 13+ inch measurement)

I'm just wondering why, if you like the hubcaps so much, then why not find a set of steel wheels from a '63 and use your hubcaps on the '63 wheels?
Or am I missing something here? Will a '63 wheel fit on to a '65 car??
