Default '66 GTO

Non-Original Round-head "Pop-rivets" holding the VIN tag to the body would be a deal-breaker for me. Proceed with caution!

X2 on that VIN tag. Notice how the 24217 is a different font. Looks super fishy to me plus wrong rivets. Should be rosette.

The font is correct for a ‘66 Fremont built car.

Here is my VIN compared to the red car VIN.

Agree the tag looks legit, but the rivets strongly indicate removal/replacement of the VIN tag. I'd personally avoid it!

Maybe that’s the rivets the factory had at the time

Been watching this car for a few weeks. Poor photos, lack of details and doc's are holding it back in my opinion. I think it's a great car overall, it appears to be very solid and original. As far as the VIN tag rivets, certainly not the normal rosette rivets we look for, but that tag doesn't look to have been off before. Also the patina around the rivets look natural to me. I'd like to see the car in person with the PHS billing card in hand.

Any ‘66 GTO VIN tag held on with round head rivets was taken off for some reason, period! Was the reason nefarious? I don’t know.

I think this ‘66 just finished it’s third go around on eBay.

I messaged the seller weeks ago asking for the two letter engine code.

He answered back saying he couldn’t see it because the alternator was in the way. Huh

Run Forrest Run! He doesn't know Jack Schitt about it.

He's probably one of those that thinks it's a big bock engine too. LOL I know a guy here that thinks Pontiac made big block engines. He says he knows all about Pontiac engines. And for the life of me he won't believe other wise when I tell him "No they did Not".
