Default Pinion Seal Replacement

Guys,

My pinion seal is leaking on my 65 Tempest with the factory 10 bolt rear. I already have the cover off to replace the fluid and was thinking of installing new pinion seal while I'm under there.

Can I take the nut off the pinion, replace the seal and just re-torque the nut back on without having to replace the crush collar?

Yes. I counted the threads and marked the nut and shaft with a small punch. After replacing the seal, I turned the nut back to the exact spot it started from. No problems.
