I dont know Steve, guys that collect all makes (that I know) tend to have a few GTO's and/or other Pontiacs.

Both of the two big NC any make collectors have GTO's and other Pontiacs in their herd and I dont think either is a die hard Pontiac fan. They just like cars.

I've sold a bit of HO stuff to some Mopar guys. One guy had a couple of 455 HO cars, one was a rare 72 convert and the other was a GTO 4 spd. Those guys have a hard time getting the Hemi's and know how high that stuff is and are now dabbling into these Pontiacs (HO and RA IV etc) because comparatively speaking, they are still a GREAT deal and are trying to get them "cheap"

Cool Is B-J manipulating the market???

I have been discussing this with a friend and it actually makes sense. The Hemi cars have been pumped up to their limits and are commanding "prime time" spots at B-J for almost guaranteed success. If they weren't "topped out", would so many be crossing the block? On the other hand, it has been mentioned that the same guys selling off these "Holy Grail" Mopars are snatching up the RA Pontiacs. Don't suppose that's why they all have crappy time slots at B-J...to keep the prices down? This would allow the Hemi guys, among others, to snap up bargains this year and pump them up next year for a hefty profit...again! Could be conspiracy theory...but sure does make sense to me. Just wish I had the bucks to play along. I'm looking to see a few GTO bargains this week at B-J. I may be way off base, but I guess time will tell. Anyone know how many cars that sell low are actually scooped up by the fellows involved with the B-J auctions? Just curious. Ron

I know nothing about it, but the theory is sound.

Unfortunately they probably won't, as you have to remember Hemis and LS6 are also going up in value every year, so they should still stay on top of any RAIV
Im not sure about this. Hemis' are way out of controll at seven figures. The market has to bottom out sometime. I think this year, you'll see a move to the lower priced cars that will be the big buck car in the next few years.

Two things that are major areas of investments have been down this year. Housing and the stock market. I think that will have some sort of an impact of the sale of "toys".

Right or wrong, is just my opinion.

And by the way jegstek.....that car is beautiful. Good luck with it.

I'll be at BJ- but only getting into town on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, that means I'll still be on a plane when that car crosses the block...

Not sure about the stock market being down this year, as I did fairly well with my portfolio.

Anyway, I kinda disagree about what will happen 'if the bubble bursts'. Agreed a few of the very high dollar cars may drop a little bit, but the Hemi's, LS6's, RAIV's, that are done to the highest standard such as Jegsteck old car will always bring top dollar, IMO. However I think that the 'cheaper' cars are the ones that will hurt the most during a downturn. Now, early 'clone' GTO's are bringing in the 20's and 30's. Everyday GTO's are in the mid 30's and up, sometimes way up. I think these cars are overpriced and will be the ones that will fall drastically in a downturn. It seems that the market in general has brought up the prices of these cars, and when the market bursts, then these cars will fall in value. When everyone who has 'jumped on the wagon' decides to go elsewhere for their investments and toys, then we will see these cars drop. I believe there are enough true collectors to keep the high dollar cars up in value. JMHO

68 400HO GTO sold for $35,000. Not knocking the 68, but it doesn't hold a candle to Ron's car and collectors will know. If this is how prices are running on Tuesday afternoon cars, there will be some record selling Pontiacs this year.

Next notable car up is Lot #100, 71 Judge 455HO/M22.....any guesses?

I came in very late on this thread.

B-J gets 18% of the selling price for the car? Is all of that collected from the seller, or does the buyer and seller each pay a percentage to B-J?

If the market goes soft, I imagine it would cut into B-Js profits pretty heavily. If prices are down, the last thing I would do is take a chance on giving up 18% to buy my car back because it went too cheap. That could keep quality cars away.

Overall, have the prices been lower, roughly equal, or higher than last year's results? I don't have cable so I have no idea how it's going.

Mike

My RAIII 4-speed pattern car got (and still has) the baffle. It is not plastic, but some kind of fiber type material. Anyone know exactly what it is? The same material is used for the radiator filler. (The only repo filler I've seen is plastic, not the correct material.)

77k for the 71 Judge, but they didn't let us see it.

Rons theory is looking more and more valid all the time!
Seems like last year they cut to commercial while a GTO was on the block a little too often for it to be coincidence!

I believe it's a 10% buyer and 8% seller fees. And 500 bucks just to be a bidder.

You could not be more wrong with that statement!!
The 70 LS6 chevelles are going in the 100-150k price range for a hardtop and hemi roadrunners are also selling in the same range. These are both top of the line cars and if you compare it to the top of the line GTO which is THE JUDGE with the RAM IVthen the judge wins! Ive been offered way more than that for my 33kmile RAM IV JUDGE!! Then again maybe its because my car is the real deal with no issues and complete matching numbers with paperwork since new!! My car seems to be going up every month!

Jegstek should our guesses include the final price AFTER the 18% - or the ACTUAL high bid price before the commissions are added ? I think the publicized after auction prices have the inflated 18% added.

What were the colors on the 71 Judge Hdtp and was 77k the bid, or the price after commissions ?

I'd be milking all of Bruno's accomplishments like a jersey cow if I were selling an IV that was performance restored in a similar manner.
