Default Good Machine Shop in Northern California/ SF Bay Area?

I would like to get me 455 to a machine shop to have it rebuilt but I dont know of any reputable shops that work on Pontiac motors. I have heard horror stories about some of the shops that re-ring motors and charge like they were new. Any suggestions?

Victory Auto in SJ. They seem to know Ponts. I know a couple of people that are running with Vic's work. He's even got some already done and waiting to be dropped in.

Dave's Engine Machining in Newark. 925-797-9536
A good machinist is a good machinist. He was very honest and thorough with my block. He came recommended by numerous guys. The gal there Angie, is super smart, she machines, ports and races.

He is a knowledgeable and honest guy. They do lots of Mopars as well as Fords so he's not a Chevy only guy. A lot of people that race use him and I have yet to hear a bad thing about them.

Perfect timing post for I am looking for a good machinist in case I have issues with the GTO, but for now I need to find a local engine builder for my 68 Ford fastback project. Think I'll give Dave's Engine Machining a call.

I would just like him to know I think highly of him. Him and Angie are good people. She posts at a local racing site www.norcal1320.com

Thanks so much for the info you guys are a veritable wealth of knowledge! I love that Angie is his right hand, I can't wait to meet them and see the shop. This is why the internet is the greatest invention of the last 50 years. Well, next to the GTO anyways...

James,
Spoke with Dave yesterday briefly who told me that Angie does most of the pricing chatter, etc. She called me today and wow, she knows her engine jargon big time. She'll get back to me next week with a rough quote on stroking my 68 fastback engine.

They are swamped getting engines out this week and are preparing to depart on Friday to some races down in Bakersfield, CA.

And yes I did mention your name.
