Default 69 Lemans/GTO convertible roof

Hi,

I've asked this question in another forum but no luck so far.

I bought my Lemans with a new convertible roof and storage boot not fitted to the car.My question is,how does the storage boot attach when the roof is down.

Neither the boot or the chrome molding has any sort of fittings such as studs or snaps. I've spent lots of time searching for pics or a part number but cant find anything. Will I need to drill the molding and fit snap fittings?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Hi Bock, not sure if the GTO and Lemans are the same, but on my 69 GTO I have two snaps that are on the interior right behind the door. Then there is a plastic strip on the boot that goes under the chrome molding that goes from one side of the car to the other.

On my '69 LeMans, the boot has 2 female buttons on each side that snap to male connectors next to the rear seats (see photo). The back of the boot should have a nearly continuous plastic tab that slides under the chrome trim that wraps around the rear window. There should be small gap under the chrome trim that allows you to slide in the plastic tabs. If your boot doesn't have the plastic tabs, then you probably have the wrong boot for the '69.

The first thing you do when installing a boot on a 69-72 GTO-LeMans is sliding the plastic bead on the front of the boot through the black metal guide track on the back of the top edge of the rear seat.

Then you lay the boot over the folded top and begin tucking the white plastic flap (that surrounds the back and outer sides of the boot) under the bright stainless molding that trims the top well. Lastly you clip the boot to the interior armrest extensions with the two clips per side. The repro boots fit beautifully.
