Default CV-1 2pc (CVI-1R)Manifold results ...

Well, Mr. Belehar has just completed some back to back testing for us with the CVI-1R 2pc manifold vs his low rise single 4 manifold, both manifolds have been port matched to his CV-290 heads but not ported, the low rise has my Anti-Reversion kit i like to use from Reher-Morrison that I modify slightly ... you can look at the pics for more details but the "R" manifold had immediately created traction problems, so much so Randy's had ended up pulling out 12 degrees of timing for (.9 seconds) into the run, he got one pass that it didn't spin afterwards and went 9.25 @ 145mph with a 1.29 60ft 😲... with 12 degrees of timing pulled for almost a second !!! Lol, yeah I think it's safe to say there's more there with the "R" manifold 👍... great work Randy Belehar

Hey Bill,
What times was Randy running with the low raise manifold? How much difference is there in runner length between the 2 manifolds?

Stan

If that is the only change, it picked up a bunch of HP.

Alex Brooks did the swap on a dyno, if I recall it made around 30 hp more with the R manifold over the low rise

... the biggest change is the torque, i tested the R manifold on my 428 pump gas combo, it wasn't against the low rise manifold, it was the Blue Thunder Ford manifold i hacked up and made it fit the CV-1's, it gained 15hp over that but the really interesting change was where the peaks moved to, the R raised the HP peak 300rpm to 7300rpm and lowered the TQ 600rpm and made more TQ everywhere ... and in all of my testing and Darin Morgan's also, we've never seen that happen with a manifold before, maybe someone else has i'm not sure, but the bottom end below the torque peak was a massive increase, i actually pulled the 428 with both manifolds to the lowest rpm we could reach on the dyno and just kept turning up the servo until the engine gave up and started to stumble and break up under the load, the Blue Thunder started coughing about 3600rpm, the R manifold never coughed at all, no matter how low we pulled it down, or increased servo, it just stayed smooth and pulling, it was much stronger down there for sure ...

On the time slips...was the pass with the new intake first and then a quick change to the old intake or was it nearly 5 hours later going from heat of the day to cool of the night? Can’t tell whether that is a 3 or an 8 on the time stamp the way the photo was taken?

... well, if it was 8:58pm there wouldn't be sunlight in the photo of the time slips, it was about 45min between both runs, Randy started off with the R manifold first (9.25) and then switched to the lowrise ...

Thank you for the answer...what sunlight are you referring to? You posted a bunch of photos and the only one you can tell was outside is his winner photo that was taken 10/29/20 but the time slip photos are 10/17/20...

You can KMA! I asked an honest question and you immediately got snarky about sunlight...I have a shop and I can take a photo that looks just like yours inside it at night without trying and I am looking at all of this on a cell phone...so again you can KMAMF🖕🏽
