I was in Singapore in September for the Formula 1 (Grand Prix) race. This was taken from what I call a ferris wheel, but its name is The Singapore Flier. I cropped a corner of the picture so you can see the people inside the "car" behind me to see how big it is. The Flier is 541' high and takes about 45 minutes for a revolution. It was a great ride!

Snapped this yesterday walking through downtown. Not bad for a cheap cell phone pic.

Anyway, the foreground building is now called "The Sanctuary." It is an old Methodist Church that was built in 1908. Interestingly, the church wanted to demolish it and re-develop the entire block as a skyscraper but a developer struck a deal with them to save the building and it has now been remodeled as an event space. Info about it here: https://www.thesanctuaryseattle.com/social/ The skyscraper is the f5 Tower and at 44 stories is now Seattle's 6th tallest building. Completed in 2017 it's built right behind The Sanctuary and is owned by f5 networks and is all office spaces for them plus a hotel on the lower floors. I personally think it's the coolest building in town. I love the fact it has no vertical surfaces and is narrowest at the ground. To me it looks like a giant crystal from a distance. A personal anecdote - I was working on the building across the street in the summer of 2017. The construction crew was hoisting up the windows for the very top floors in the middle of the night when a gust of wind caused the load to spin and yanked the hand line out of the worker holding it. One of the panes fell from approximately the 42nd floor. As it fell it fluttered and broke into pieces, two of which came all the way across the street and knocked windows out of the building I was working in on the 6th and 5th floors. I came in early that morning to demo some old conduit and wiring and install new conduits and wires at the parking garage entrance. Needed to get the work done before the garage opened at 7AM so came in at 3AM. When I got there, Marion street (where the garage entrance was) was closed and there were a bunch of guys with brooms sweeping up all the shattered glass that was all over the street. They are damned lucky no one got hurt or killed.

Took this Saturday at my house near Luray Va with a 400 acre fire in the background in the GW Forest. I've read there is about 120 firefighters up there.

I took this picture of my 1986 CJ-7 in the spring of 1987. I bought it off the AMC dealer lot in Mobile Alabama, after I got back from a deployment to Antarctica. I was active duty Coast Guard back then, and I had received orders to AIRSTA Port Angeles in the summer of 1986, which is where I took this picture. After driving across the country in a CJ-7 through Texas, in the summer, with no AC, I eventually checked-in to my new assignment. Eventually I got settled in at my new unit, when I installed 410/411 gears in the Dana 30/44, with a LSD in the 44. I was running 31” Mud Radials at the time too, everything else was stock. 258 inline six, 4-speed with overdrive.
I entered in the local 4x4 club mud racing, annual competition. I won the drag race six cylinder class, and runnered-up in the roundy-round class. I tied for the event winner. Another contestant in the four cylinder class won the roundy-round, and runnered-up in the drag class. In preparation for the event, I took the hardtop and steel doors off. I took the passenger seat, rear seat and spare tire rack off the back of the Jeep too. Sometimes the best way to increase performance, is to reduce weight. It was a fun day, I had a blast! On another note. Is there a way I can post my pictures BIG, like I used to before photobucket changed their policy? If someone knows how to do it, I’d like to learn how....or maybe someone can repost my Jeep picture? Thanks!
