Default Louisiana Christmas

At 7:30 this AM it's 68 degrees here in North Louisiana. Expected high today is 76. And the low expected for Christmas morning is 62.

Although there is an occasional, but rare, accumulation of snow here, during the winter, neither TJ nor I can remember ever seeing a white Christmas here.

Most of the snow here comes in Jan, Feb, & even early Mar. It is quite rare to have snow stay on the ground more than 2 days. I can only remember a very few times when the temps stayed below freezing long enuff to keep the snow from melting for 3 days or more.

The very 1st snow I remember seeing was in Feb of somewhere around 1961 or so. Me and a helper were in our dairy barn, milking cows. I still remember seeing the huge snowflakes gently floating to the ground. I thought they were beautiful. But, before it stopped, we had aprox a foot accumulation. And the temps dropped down into the teens, staying well below freezing for several days. All the roads were iced over. We didn't have snow plows and salt trucks.

It was so cold, our milking machine vacuum lines were freezing up, making the milking process extremely difficult. My dad finally had enuff, and decided to sell the milk cows. This made me VERY happy, because it meant that I would no longer have to milk cows before & after school. I suppose this might be the reason why I don't mind snow, til this day. But, I would not wanna live up North, where large amounts of snow are common.

The extreme winter weather is continuing up north, front is supposed to pass through my way (central Oklahoma) around noon tomorrow, with a chance of severe weather and possibly tornados. Been pray'n against the severe part, accepting the rain that we need! Thank You, Lord!

A couple weeks ago, my neighbor cut his grass in the morning and shoveled his driveway in the afternoon.

Thumbs up Southern California after the storms

It is bright & beautiful in San Diego....

Ran into snow on the I-8 passes yesterday about 40 miles east of here.

Looks like a good week to be driving up to Seattle on I-5.

Merry Christmas Everyone !

I hear the northern states and New England are in for some heavy snow. And you too up there in Canada Ed. Looks like we'll miss it down here. And yes... I don't miss all that snow and cold one bit.

A friend is up in Buffalo for the holidays and if he didn't leave today to get back to DE, he ain't gonna make it till probably Friday or Saturday.
